Dear hardinero,

 

On the contrary, Titan will contribute as your finishing coat. Elastomerics are noted to have good crack-bridging properties. Your Acrytex preparation has already sealed off the substrate’s porosity and much of its alkalinity. However, the Primer and Cast by itself does not complete the system that promises water-tightness. The attendant may be suggesting the Acrytex features and benefits on a general note in its entirety. Titan may be used with or without a primer as it is already self-priming.

I agree with you. Waterproofing your roof deck is an imperative although it would have been best if you had placed it before the mortar topping. At this point, waiting 2-3 weeks before putting on the topcoat might help but having an excellent sealer blocking off the surface will not give your concrete much room to breathe.

 

Regarding your question on my personal choice between Acrytex and Titan, it really depends on the budget. Acrytex is a bit more pricey than Titan. An extensive description of the Acrytex product may be found in our website. However, I understand that Titan is not since it belongs with our sister company as discussed with you earlier. Just to bring you up to speed on the product, Titan is a water-based elastomeric paint that is designed to bridge hairline cracks to prevent water seepage. It is immediately available in satin finish with about 60 standard colors to choose from. Some depots and paint outlets have mixing machines dedicated to the product to have it color-mixed while-you-wait. You will need about three coats of this paint to achieve a good film-build enough to protect and beautify your walls.

    My husband is having plans of water proofing  our roof deck because  rain  sippage already damaged our plywood ceiling on the lower level .  Though we have already applied   mortar topping (plastering) over  the concrete slab, we are always worried  that during rainy days, we will be facing the same problem.   Can we still use a Flexibond or elastomeric paint to protect it from future leaks?  Please advise me on what should be done.

    We wanted to do it asap.  Anticipating and thanking  you for your fast reply.
